This is a win for freedom over fascism because presidents do not get to rewrite election rules on the eve of an election, and millions of voters can continue relying on the mail without a last-minute federal roadblock. Court protects Mississippi’s only majority-Black judicial district - A federal court rejected an effort to stop DeSoto County’s majority-Black judicial subdistrict from being used in November, preserving the county’s only judicial district where Black voters have a meaningful opportunity to elect candidates of their choice. This is a win for freedom over fascism because democracy works only when communities have a fair chance to be heard and attempts to erase representation are challenged and stopped. ACLU

Reproductive Freedom for All

Federal judge blocks Idaho from punishing doctors for health-protecting abortions - A federal judge blocked Idaho officials from enforcing the state’s criminal abortion ban when a physician determines abortion care is necessary to protect a patient’s health or prevent death from self-harm. This is a win for reproductive freedom because patients should not have to deteriorate to the brink of death before doctors are legally allowed to provide the medical care they need. CBS2 Idaho News

Wins for Immigrant and Refugee Rights

Appeals court upholds bond-hearing rights for thousands detained by ICE - The First Circuit upheld a ruling finding that the Trump administration was unlawfully denying bond hearings to thousands of people arrested by ICE in New England, becoming the seventh federal appeals court to reject the administration’s detention theory. This is a win for immigrant rights because the government cannot simply lock people away indefinitely without giving them a chance to ask a judge for release while their immigration cases proceed. Wins for Protecting Our Planet

Court forces the Pentagon to restart reviews of more than 100 wind projects - A federal court ordered the Defense Department to end its blanket freeze on wind-energy project reviews, reopening the process for more than 100 proposed projects representing roughly 46,000 megawatts of potential power generation. This is a win for our planet because clean-energy projects deserve lawful, project-by-project review instead of an across-the-board political blockade that keeps renewable power off the grid. Appeals court tosses approval for massive Gulf Coast oil export project - The Fifth Circuit threw out the federal government’s approval analysis for the proposed Texas GulfLink deepwater oil-export project, finding that regulators violated the Deepwater Port Act when approving it within the same application area as another port. This is a win for our planet because massive fossil-fuel infrastructure does not get a free pass around the law, and the ruling could force the developer to halt initial construction while the project’s future is reconsidered. NYC Ferry workers vote to form a union - Sixty-five marine diesel technicians and welders working on New York City’s ferry system voted to form a union with the Transport Workers Union, giving them a collective voice as they head toward negotiations for their first contract. This is a win for labor rights because when workers organize, they gain real power to demand fair wages, stronger benefits, safer workplaces, and dignity on the job. AFL-CIO

Student loans are being erased for borrowers defrauded by colleges - A long-running legal battle is finally bringing relief to hundreds of thousands of federal student loan borrowers who say they were misled or defrauded by their schools. This is a win for human and civil rights because people harmed by predatory institutions should not be trapped for decades under debt built on deception. NPR

EV drivers are saving money as gas prices rise - New data shows that rising gas prices have made the monthly cost difference between driving a gas-powered car and an electric vehicle even more striking, with EVs now cheaper to fuel in nearly every state. Senate Republicans left for recess without passing a narrowed SAVE America Act voter ID measure that could have made it harder for millions of eligible voters to cast ballots. A federal judge pushed back against a policy that tried to shut nonpartisan groups out of citizenship ceremonies and stop them from helping new Americans register to vote.   WNBA players unanimously approved a seven-year collective bargaining agreement that the union called transformational. The deal expands economic gains and player benefits and stands out as one of the biggest labor wins in women’s sports. AP

• US judge blocks Trump from ending protections for 2,800 Yemeni nationals
  A federal judge stopped the administration from ending Temporary Protected Status for Yemenis, preserving work authorization and protection from deportation for now. The judge said DHS failed to follow the legal process Congress requires for reviewing TPS decisions. Reuters

• Second federal appeals court rejects Trump’s no-bond immigration detentions, deepening circuit split
  The 11th Circuit became the second federal appeals court to reject the administration’s attempt to deny bond hearings to many immigrants already living in the United States. The ruling strengthens due-process protections and increases the odds that the Supreme Court will eventually have to settle the issue. AP

• Federal court rules against new global tariffs Trump imposed
  A federal trade court struck down Trump’s new 10% global tariffs, saying he exceeded the authority Congress gave him and calling the tariffs “invalid” and “unauthorized by law.” It is a clear rule-of-law story because the court reasserted that presidents cannot simply invent sweeping tariff powers on their own. ✊ Rallies & Protests Highlights

In lieu of our Good News from the Resistance summaries this week, we are sharing something even bigger: proof that people power is alive all across this country.

On March 28, more than 8 million people joined No Kings protests at more than 3,300 events nationwide, which organizers described as the largest single day of protest in U.S. history. That is not just a headline. That is hope in motion. It is millions of people refusing to give in to fear, refusing to accept cruelty as normal, and refusing to stay silent while politicians put war and power ahead of people’s lives.

The message rising from those streets was clear. Americans are tired of a government that can always find money for war, but never enough to keep families healthy, housed, and secure. One protester told the Guardian, “We need healthcare, we need jobs.” That demand feels even more urgent as Axios reports that House Republicans are considering further cuts to federal health spending to help finance a budget bill that could include as much as $200 billion for the Iran war and immigration enforcement. Senator Elizabeth Warren put it plainly: “Republicans in Congress want to cut Americans’ health care to pay for more war in Iran. Let that sink in.”

But here is the good news from the resistance: the people see the truth, and they are rising together. Millions are making clear that healthcare for all is cheaper than war, wiser than war, and more humane than war. Care keeps people alive, treated, working, and secure. War drives up prices, strips away stability, and leaves ordinary people with the bill. So when millions take to the streets to demand a different future, that is not just protest. That is a reminder that our values are still alive, our voices are still powerful, and the movement for a country that invests in people instead of destruction is growing stronger every day.

🔥 What Happened: From a Handful of Door-Knockers to over 300,000 Strong

It started simply — volunteers showing up to help elect Hillary Clinton. When she lost and fear threatened to swallow us whole, we made a choice. We didn’t go home. We showed up anyway — for immigrant rights, for reproductive freedom, for LGBTQIA+ dignity, for workers, for the climate, for everyone whose voice was being drowned out by money and power.

That decision to keep showing up, speaking out, and building power is everything. It is why People Power United exists today.
