As we approach the holiday season, I want to take a moment to wish you and your loved ones peace, warmth, and joy—no matter what traditions you celebrate.
As I sit with my family and friends this Thanksgiving, I actively acknowledge my gratitude and the complex history underpinning this holiday. The blessings I enjoy today are not separate from the harm caused by colonialism, and I choose to honor that truth by reflecting on its impact. Recognizing this truth deepens my reflection and inspires me to celebrate the resilience of those impacted by that history, striving to contribute to a more just and equitable future.
Growing up, I was privileged to attend school on the Colville Reservation and to grow up alongside many friends from the Colville and Nespelem Tribes. Witnessing the discrimination and bigotry they faced opened my eyes to the stark inequities that persist in our nation. It's a painful reminder that we are far from realizing the promise of "liberty and justice for all."
This holiday season, I invite you to join me in reflecting on the joys and lessons of the past year while embracing a renewed commitment to creating meaningful change in the year ahead. Together, we can make a difference.
Here at People Power United, we've accomplished incredible things—signing petitions, writing lawmakers, sending postcards and letters to voters, knocking on doors, text banking, phone banking, and so much more. Every action has been a step toward progress in our communities.
This people power movement is unique because it's powered entirely by people like you. No fundraising gimmicks, no hidden sponsors, no big donors—just volunteers coming together with a shared vision for a better future. We've proven that we can move mountains when people stand up and speak out daily.
People Power United is the largest grassroots group (over 200,000+ members) in America, and it is because of you.
You are making real change in our communities. Your hearts, your words, your actions, and your unwavering determination inspire me every single day. Thank you for stepping up—for your comments, your support, and the incredible work you've done to make a difference in our communities. For that, and for all that we'll accomplish together, I am profoundly grateful. This is the power of People Power United.
I've seen the love and grit you bring to building people power in our communities. Your efforts are proof that when we come together, we are unstoppable.
The extremists want us to believe otherwise. They want us to lose hope, to feel powerless, and to surrender to their relentless grab for control. But we know better. Americans do not cower to bullies. We don't give up, stay silent, or stand still in the face of injustice.
We know that if we want change, we have to be willing to roll up our sleeves and do the work—it's not enough to simply voice our frustrations.
Together, we can build a more just and compassionate world—one where everyone's story is honored, and everyone has the chance to thrive. Let the spirit of this season drive us to take action and build a future filled with hope and possibility.

Call your Member of Congress (202) 224-3121 and tell them to make a public statement against using recess appointments to rule over people instead of representing them and to work on and pass legislation that requires all political appointees—no matter how they're appointed—to undergo thorough background checks by the FBI and ethical vetting by the Office of Government Ethics as has always been the norm.

In a democracy, the principle that "no one is above the law" is non-negotiable.
