Friends,
Trump and Republicans are attempting to sneak another dangerous policy into law while most folks are focused on the Iran war, rising gas prices, and out-of-control inflation driving up the costs of healthcare, housing, education, and childcare. It all has to do with Section 702 of FISA.
Congress may vote on Section 702 of FISA tomorrow, and this is a critical moment for all of us to speak out.
Lawmakers should not hand the government more unchecked power to spy on our communities without fixing the dangerous loopholes that threaten our privacy, our dignity, and our freedom.
What is at stake is simple:
Section 702 has been used in ways that sweep up Americans’ sensitive information.
The data broker loophole allows the government to buy personal data instead of getting a warrant.
Backdoor searches let the government search Americans’ communications without probable cause.
New AI tools make it easier to analyze geolocation, web browsing, and other private data at a massive scale.
That opens the door to profiling, racial targeting, political abuse, and unchecked surveillance.
The public does not want this. Only 12 percent of Americans want Section 702 extended as-is. Huge majorities want Congress to close the backdoor search loophole and the data broker loophole.
People Power United believes freedom over fascism means rejecting warrantless government surveillance of our communities, progress over fear means protecting both civil liberties and real public safety, and power to the people means the Constitution must still apply in the digital age. We need Congress to reform Section 702 by closing the data broker loophole, ending backdoor searches, and requiring a warrant before the government accesses Americans’ sensitive personal information.
Here is what we need you to do right now:
✅Take Action Now and Send a Letter to Your Member of Congress: Block Trump’s AI-powered warrantless surveillance of Americans!
Call your member of Congress (202) 224-3121 if they are on this list and tell them to sign on to the colleague letter and reform Section 702 by closing the data broker loophole, ending backdoor searches, and requiring a warrant before the government accesses Americans’ sensitive personal information.
This matters because once surveillance powers expand, they are almost never handed back willingly. This is how governments normalize overreach and call it safety. But we are not powerless. We have the power to call, write, organize, and make it impossible for Congress to ignore the people they are supposed to serve. This is one of those moments when people power must rise louder than fear.
Together, we can defend our rights, freedoms, the rule of law, and democracy, hold leaders accountable to the people’s will, and inspire voters to make a meaningful difference.
People Power United is independent, people-powered news and grassroot movement actions dedicated to defending our rights, freedoms, the rule of law, and democracy. This is our moment to rise, resist, and reclaim our democracy. Millions of Americans and people who call America home are already rising up in the streets, at the ballot box, and in their communities.
People Power United champions freedom over fascism, progress over fear, and power to the people. We believe change is possible, and we do the work to make it happen. Join us to build people power.

Warrantless AI surveillance of human beings is wrong to the very core. It invades privacy. Americans should feel free and fearless in their lives and that is at risk with AI surveillance. "Just because our tech has evolved in our country, we have no more privacy" - that is so insane. Why are we building tech if not for wellbeing of individual human beings? We do not want our tech to serve the few greedy people who happen to be in power. We want to use tech to create mass wellbeing. Otherwise tech workers will slowly grow ashamed of themselves and their work. Let us call on Congress widely to stop AI surveillance efforts.
