2️⃣ A Betrayal We Cannot Ignore

Yesterday, I called out ten Senate Democrats and Leader Schumer for siding with Trump in the latest budget fight. Some have argued that Schumer made the "right" decision for “the greater good”, but let’s be clear: he chose a path that fueled Trump’s fascist takeover.

Schumer and these ten Democrats voted to enable cuts from funding for the poor, sick, elderly, and veterans—while giving more money to billionaires and ICE to deport our neighbors, friends, and loved ones. They turned their backs on Dreamers and members of our community, possibly forcing those who have lived here for decades— people who don’t even know the languages of the countries they would be deported to— into exile. They handed Trump a win.

It was a false choice. But even worse, Schumer and these ten Democrats went against 37 Senate Democrats and 213 House Democrats. That means 250 Democrats stood united— while Schumer and his 9 complicit Senate Democrats chose division.

Days before, Schumer spoke out against this bill…. Then, in a stunning reversal, he caved. What does this say about his leadership? About his relationship with Hakeem Jeffries? About his respect for fellow Congressional Democrats listening to the voice of the people? Shouldn’t he be leading to unite democrats in a vote of the most consequential budget affecting millions of lives? Instead, Schumer and his 9 complicit Democrats sided with Republicans in abandoning our values, our people, and our movement.

I understand tough choices. I believe Schumer had a mandate to unite Democrats above anything else. If I were in Schumer’s position, I would have fought to persuade my fellow 250 Democrats of my views on the proposed budget—and if I failed, I would have stood with them, not against them. I would never betray the overriding majority of democrats in Congress or the movement to side with Trump.

Every day, our leaders must make difficult decisions. But there is one decision that should never be difficult: STAND UNITED.

Right now, Democrats are divided at the highest levels. That division only empowers Trump, Musk, and the Republican Cult of Obedience that is trying to Nazify our country. If we don’t unite, if we don’t fight back, we risk losing everything.

This Is Why It’s Up to Us

We can’t wait for elected officials in D.C. or Democrats to save us. WE are the power. We, the people, must lead for America’s future. Please, join us tonight. This is our fight, and we must face it together.
