Cruelty Is Not a Housing Policy
Trump’s attacks on housing, homeless assistance, and heating and cooling aid threaten families, seniors, disabled people, veterans, and unhoused neighbors. Tell Congress to reject these cruel cuts.
Trump’s Attack on Housing Is an Attack on Freedom
Friends,
At People Power United, we believe America’s promise means nothing unless it reaches everyone. Housing, shelter, heat, cooling, and basic safety are not luxuries. They are human needs. This is about whether people can live with dignity, safety, freedom, fairness, and a real chance to thrive. Our freedoms must not depend on wealth, power, status, zip code, identity, or whether those in office decide we are worth protecting. In a nation that claims liberty and justice for all, every person deserves the right to live fully, freely, and safely.
Cutting Heat, Cooling, and Shelter Is Cruelty
Right now, Trump is attacking housing and homeless assistance programs that help people stay housed, find shelter, and survive moments of crisis. He is also trying to eliminate heating and cooling assistance that helps families stay safe during extreme weather. This is hurting seniors, disabled people, low-income families, children, veterans, unhoused neighbors, and working people already struggling to make ends meet.
Let’s be clear: this is not about keeping communities safe.
This is an authoritarian overreach that threatens the basic public good. No one should be abandoned in the cold, left to suffer in dangerous heat, or pushed further into homelessness because politicians chose cruelty over care.
Billionaires Get Breaks. Families Lose Shelter.
We should be clear: this is not just one bad budget cut or one harmful policy. It is part of a larger fight over who our government serves — the people, or the powerful. A government that can hand favors to billionaires and corporations while cutting housing, shelter, heat, and cooling support is not protecting freedom. It is manufacturing suffering.
This moment may feel painful, frustrating, or exhausting. But it is not hopeless.
Congress Must Stop Trump’s Cruel Housing Cuts
When leaders attack housing assistance, homeless services, and energy support, they are not just targeting one program. They are weakening the promise of democracy itself. Rights do not protect themselves. People protect rights. Progress does not happen because those in power suddenly do the right thing.
Progress happens when we, the people, organize, speak out, show up, and demand better.
That is why we must keep pushing Congress to reject these attacks and defend programs that keep people safe, housed, and alive.
At People Power United, we know that holding our leaders accountable to the will of the people is how we build the future we deserve. We are not powerless. We are not alone. And we are not going away.

Why the Grassroots Resistance Can’t Wait
People Power United members believe change is possible because we have seen ordinary people rise, organize, and be a force for progress. Real change does not come from waiting politely, staying quiet, or hoping those in power suddenly grow a conscience. It comes when people speak out, show up, and demand action—because our communities and families cannot wait, and every moment we delay gives injustice more room to tighten its grip on our communities.
Thanks for taking action!
