🖤Juneteenth Means Freedom For All
Freedom was delayed, denied, and obstructed — but never abandoned. Today we honor that legacy by demanding civil rights, voting rights, and justice for all.

Friends,
On this Juneteenth, we rise in celebration — and in purpose, feeling pride in our history of resistance and a shared responsibility to continue the fight for justice.
Happy Juneteenth. Happy Emancipation Day. Happy Freedom Day.
Today marks more than a date in history. It reminds us of a legacy of resistance and resilience, and of the long journey toward justice, evoking reflection and empathy for the ongoing struggle for true freedom.
On June 19, 1865, enslaved Black people in Galveston, Texas, finally received word of freedom — more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.1 That delay tells a painful truth about America: justice has too often been promised before it is delivered.
Juneteenth is intricately linked to the history of democracy in the United States. There is no full democracy without Black freedom. There is no equal justice while racial discrimination shapes who gets heard, who gets housed, who gets hired, who gets protected, who gets punished, and who gets political power. And that is exactly why Juneteenth cannot be reduced to a holiday, a slogan, a sale, or a ceremony.
Juneteenth is a demand.
It demands that we tell the truth about slavery, racism, Reconstruction, Jim Crow, voter suppression, racial violence, mass incarceration, redlining, stolen wealth, blocked opportunity, and every policy that has treated Black freedom as negotiable.
It demands that we reject every attempt to erase history, ban books, silence educators, whitewash injustice, and pretend racism is over simply because some people are tired of hearing about it.
It demands that we understand this simple truth: freedom for some is not freedom.
Even now, MAGA extremists and anti-democratic politicians are working to rewrite history, suppress the truth, and roll back hard-won rights. They attack voting rights. They push voter suppression laws that disproportionately harm Black and Brown communities. They cloak racism in legal language in the name of “election integrity.” They attack diversity, equity, and inclusion because they know an honest democracy requires honest repair and are afraid of what that honesty means for them.
But we know power concedes nothing without a demand. That is why we organize, speak out, and keep pushing until civil rights are protected not just in promise, but in policy, practice, and everyday life. We refuse to be silenced. We refuse to be erased.
Juneteenth demands more than celebration; it calls us to act with urgency and purpose to protect voting rights and advocate against racial injustice.
We must honor Juneteenth by advancing an inclusive democracy that uplifts Black Americans’ struggles, aspirations, leadership, and right to true democratic equality. We must recommit to a nationwide movement that prioritizes voting rights protections, removes violence and intimidation from our politics, and ensures Black Americans can fully enjoy the rights, freedoms, and opportunities this country has promised for generations.
So today, we recommit.
To truth-telling.
To power-building.
To justice for the past, present, and future.
And we must call on our leaders to do more than issue statements. We must encourage our leaders to:
Strengthen and enforce civil rights laws that protect people from racial discrimination.
Protect and expand voting rights so every voice is heard, and every vote counts.
End racial profiling and unequal treatment in policing, courts, housing, education, employment, and health care.
Protect honest education about slavery, Reconstruction, civil rights, Juneteenth, and the ongoing struggle for equality.
Invest in communities harmed by generations of discrimination so every person has a fair chance to thrive.
Hold institutions accountable when they allow racism, discrimination, or unequal treatment to continue.
Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom — and a call for all of us to finish the work of justice.
We urge every leader at every level of government to honor Juneteenth with more than speeches. Honor it with policy. Honor it with accountability. Honor it by protecting the rights, dignity, and freedom of every person.
This is not too much to ask. This is the minimum required of a nation that claims liberty and justice for all.
Juneteenth is not just a look back. It is a call forward.
Freedom delayed does not have to be freedom denied. When people rise, organize, mobilize, and demand that America become what it has always promised to be.
This Juneteenth, let us honor history by protecting the future.

The movement for freedom over fascism, progress, and power to the people starts here.
Why the Grassroots Resistance Can’t Wait
People Power United members believe change is possible because we have seen ordinary people rise, organize, and be a force for progress. Real change does not come from waiting politely, staying quiet, or hoping those in power suddenly grow a conscience. It comes when people speak out, show up, and demand action—because our communities and families cannot wait, and every moment we delay gives injustice more room to tighten its grip on our communities.
Thanks for taking action!!
