After the Civil War ended, the govt. went right back to subjugating blacks, who were now Americans. It took 92 years to finally pass the Civil Rights Act. My children, now in their 40's were both, thankfully, accepted into Head Start. Because of the low student-teacher ratio and parental involvement, they were in accelerated classes and have gone on to successful careers. This program is important to anyone whose children and parents need support. Parents and children are the guiding lights of Head Start.
