No Draft, No Boots on the Ground in Iran
Congress must stop Trump from sending American troops into Iran. No draft, no boots on the ground, and no blank check for war.
Friends, America has seen this script before: a war sold as limited, controlled, and necessary, right up until it becomes wider, deadlier, and harder to end.
Right now, the people in charge have refused to rule out American ground troops, suggested the campaign could last “four to five weeks” or “far longer than that,” and acknowledged that roughly 50,000 service members were already involved while additional personnel were being moved into the region. 1
That is exactly why people are right to say no to a draft and no to boots on the ground. When leaders leave the door open to a longer war and refuse to close the door on ground combat, they are asking working families to live with the risk that more and more young people will be pulled into a conflict they did not choose. 2
The warning signs are already flashing. The defense secretary would not explain an exit strategy and said the pace of the war was effectively “on his terms,” while insisting this would not become another endless conflict.3
Americans should hear that and remember how often wars are launched with confidence and wrapped in slogans, only to leave behind body bags, broken families, lifelong trauma, and years of moral and economic wreckage. That is not pessimism. That is history.
And the human cost is no longer hypothetical. The remains of the first six service members killed in the conflict were returned to Dover on March 7, and reporting on March 12 said the death toll had risen to 13 U.S. service members, with about 150 wounded since the war began. 4
Congress was supposed to be the constitutional check against exactly this kind of drift into war. Instead, Republicans in Congress chose to abandon that duty, leaving the decision to send American troops into harm’s way to a reckless and unfit president with no military experience, no steady leadership, and 34 felony convictions.
The deeper problem is that the case for war keeps changing. Reporting showed shifting rationales for the attack even as officials with access to intelligence said they saw no sign of an imminent threat to the United States, while another account said officials seemed unable to land on “one coherent reason for war.”5
That confusion matters because wars without clear goals do not stay small. Critics have described this one as having “no clear goal,” and reporting says the mission has shifted from backing protesters, to eliminating nuclear capacity, to destroying missiles, to reopening the Strait of Hormuz, even as a classified intelligence assessment reportedly warned that a large-scale war was unlikely to overthrow Iran’s entrenched leadership or produce a clean opposition takeover.6
That is not strategy. That is escalation disguised as certainty. And when leaders cannot clearly explain why the war started, how it ends, what victory means, or how many more Americans may die before they are satisfied, the people have every right to reject the next step before it arrives.7 8
So let us be plain: no draft, no boots on the ground, no blank check for another open-ended war. Our young people are not expendable, our troops are not props, and our future should not be sacrificed to another reckless conflict with no honest exit.

I for one am glad that there is someone out there who watches out for these grab and hold ideas that are not only bad they are as sick as Donald J Trump is.
