📢 No Shutdown, No Dictators: The People Will Rise
We stand united against Trump’s shutdown threat and creeping fascism
Hi Friends! Sorry, I am late sending this tonight. I had so many chores to finish this weekend. I wanted to get ahead because next week is going to be, excuse my language, a sh.tshow with a government shutdown looming over our country. A friendly reminder: Donald Trump and the Republicans in Congress control the White House, the Senate, and the House of Representatives. Any shutdown and the layoffs that come with it are not an accident. It is a cruel show of power—and a dangerous one. It also shows the absolute incompetence we have at the White House.
Despite holding the title of President, Trump is no leader. Nearly 80% of people who call America home did not vote for him, and we cannot let his regime define who we are.
From his first month in office to today, Trump has made one thing painfully clear: he craves power, disregards democracy, and aligns himself with dictators. The warning lights are flashing red. A bully like Trump thrives on manipulation, fear, and control. He insults, gaslights, and silences opposition. He bows to authoritarians like Putin while abandoning those who fight for democracy. And just as we would never cower to a schoolyard bully, we must never cower to him.
Why won’t Republicans stop him? The answer is fear and corruption. Once, one of Trump’s closest advisors, Michael Cohen, explained it best: Trump doesn’t give orders. He speaks in code… the way Mafiosi talk to each other, to avoid trouble.” This is not the company of a leader who values American ideals. It’s the company of someone who values power, corruption, and control. Trump has turned the Republican Party into a cult of obedience, where anyone who dares to stand up is threatened, smeared, or destroyed.
But fascism cannot thrive if we refuse to be silent. Trump is a bully narcissist who believes power is his birthright. Fascism doesn’t take over with tanks in the streets—it grows when people dismiss threats as “it can’t happen here.” Every moment of silence allows authoritarianism to take root.
Fascism survives by dividing us—by exploiting differences and sowing hate. But when we stand together, we dismantle those tactics. That power was seen last week as Disney, Sinclair, and Nexstar heard our calls, saw our protests, and felt the economic loss that goes along with siding with someone trying to silence freedom of speech. We must stay alert to what is happening and heed the calls to action because this dictator wannabe, Donald Trump, and his lazy Republican cronies are not going to stop attacking the American people until they are voted out of office. Until that happens, we must remember we are the majority, and unity is our greatest weapon. An attack on one of us is an attack on all of us.
Keep making good trouble:
✅ Speak out, show up, and build power together.
✅ Encourage our leaders to do better.
✅ Talk to our families, friends, and neighbors.
✅ Make voting a habit, not an afterthought.
✅ Mobilize millions to reclaim our rights, freedoms, and democracy.
And remember-No one can impose their racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, antisemitism, homophobia, misogyny, sexism, ageism, ableism, sizeism, transphobia, misogynoir, elitism, and bigotry on us. We will not obey. We won’t cower to bullies or fools. We will do the work to remove them from power.
These are troubling times, but we are not alone. We have the power, and every action we take matters.

No one on either party wants shut down, even for selfish reasons. But as a physician I thinks it’s important to stand up to protect healthcare for the millions that would be affected by the cuts. I used to be Republican and will always have healthcare but many will suffer if we accept the crappy big beautiful bill regarding health
Republicans aren't going to budge, they've made this abundantly clear. They are the non negotiators, lying thru their teeth every time they open their mouths. If Democrats don't get some concessions, I'm all for a shut down. Anyone that's unable to see who the real villians are needs a brain scan and some heavy duty glasses.
