Well, yesterday, I was at a pretty sizable "NO ICE FOR GOOD" protest here on the Central Coast of California. The other day, there was a January 6th remembrance protest. Every Saturday at a jail facility, there is a group that protests against ICE. Anyway, I have noticed through the Indivisible groups, yours, and many more organizations that the protests are building. Let's get to that "3.5%" or more of the populace in nonviolent protest to change our direction from fascism back to our fragile democracy.
We really need an organized “all of society” response right now, something that would be like a political party, with the funding and organizational infrastructure to have national reach and, most importantly, national messaging; some entity that could speak for a broad, America-loving, democracy-supporting coalition, conveying our core values and supporting all those willing to fight for those values—an anti-MAGA, if you will.
If we go this route, we have to be clear that we are doing so as a model for developing an international effort to connect with like-minded leaders and believers across the world. Imagine if such an effort existed now and could broadcast support to the brave Iranians in the streets now. Look, MAGA reaches out to like-minded politicians in Europe all the time. Where is our counterforce to this? We have to create it and the sooner the better.
I am so frustrated: I can see what is needed but have no real idea how to effect the vision. Surely there are leaders in this country who recognize the urgency and need and who can begin marshaling the effort. Perhaps we who are periodically “in the streets” need to be messaging what we want—not just an emphatic “NO” but a fleshed out “YES.” Most importantly, we have to harness the energy we are putting into our “No Kings” work and translate that into real power, real intention, real goal-driven organizing—not just politically, but culturally. Now is the time to create a values-driven campaign of action…

innocent victim who was shot
to death while watching a rally. We demanded that ICE
be removed from our streets and homes immediately. And
most importantly our nation

The MAGA movement has had the backing of Capitalist billionaires and mass media. The MAGA cult wasn’t formed by the yokels who support it.
