I wanted to let you know I’ve been out the past few days mourning the loss of a loved one. It’s been hard—especially because it was unexpected. I had planned to be out all week, but I couldn’t stay silent after the incredible excitement of yesterday’s elections.
Make no mistake—what happened yesterday was the power of the people rising up and reclaiming our democracy from greedy, corrupt leaders who refuse to tackle our rising electricity, food, housing, and insurance costs—or to work across party lines for the good of the people they were elected to serve. What happened across America was a reckoning—a reminder that when we stand together, we can stop the march of tyranny and build a nation rooted in justice, equality, and compassion for all.
Normally, I share Good News and Progress from the Resistance over the weekend. But today, we celebrate progress in real time—because resistance isn’t just about fighting back, it’s about moving forward. Together, we are writing the story of progress, one act of people power at a time.
And this victory belongs to all of us—everyone who worries about feeding their family, finding a decent home, building a better life, and protecting their dignity from the greedy and corrupt who seek to take it away. Georgia Fights for Affordable Energy
Georgia voters ousted two Republican utility commissioners, replacing them with Democrats promising fair rates and transparency.

Virginia Makes History
First woman elected governor of Virginia: Abigail Spanberger won with over 57% of the vote, declaring in her victory speech:

First Muslim and Indian-origin lieutenant governor: Ghazala Hashmi won with 55% of the vote, saying:

New York Elects First Muslim Mayor
Zohran Mamdani became New York City’s first Muslim mayor, winning with more than 50% of the vote.

Detroit Elects Its First Woman Mayor
Mary Sheffield made history as Detroit’s first woman elected mayor, winning with over 77% of the vote. Her victory, like Spanberger’s, sends “a message to the whole world”—that voters are choosing progress over partisanship. — The Guardian
California Defends Democracy
Californians overwhelmingly passed Proposition 50 with 63% of the vote, striking back at Republican redistricting games. In his remarks, Governor Gavin Newsom accused Trump of voter intimidation and declared:
“In the U.S., there are no crowns, no thrones, no kings...the passage of Proposition 50 was a win for the U.S., not just the Democratic Party.” — C-SPAN
Maine Rejects Voter Suppression
Mainers stood up to Republican efforts to impose harsh voter ID and ballot restrictions—Question 1 failed with over 63% voting no.
