Reject the War Machine. Invest in America.
People Power demands that Congress stop Trump’s war spending, reject Pentagon waste, and invest in health care, housing, education, and our families.
America Is Not Broke. It Is Being Robbed.

America is not broke.
America is being pilfered.
That is the truth hiding in plain sight every time families are told there is not enough money for health care, food, housing, childcare, public schools, clean air, clean water, climate action, or basic dignity.
So ask the question politicians hope we never ask:
Where did the money go?
Look closer.
It did not disappear. It was redirected into war, waste, bloated Pentagon budgets, military contractors, and a political system that treats the needs of the American people as optional while treating endless militarization as untouchable.
This is not just a budget fight. It is a moral test.
Trump is seeking an overall $600 billion annual increase in Pentagon spending, pushing the total Pentagon budget to more than $1.5 trillion.1 Meanwhile, communities are told to accept hunger, medical debt, rising rents, and climate disasters without the resources needed to keep people safe.
That is not fiscal responsibility.
That is theft dressed up as strength.
House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries warned that instead of making life more affordable, Trump is “spending tens of billions of taxpayer dollars on a reckless war in the Middle East.”2
And now there is more.
Recent reporting says Trump’s agreement with Iran commits the United States and regional partners “to develop a plan for [a] fund with a minimum of $300 billion for reconstruction in Iran,” an issue that was not on the table before the war.
Read that again.
A war they chose. A crisis they fueled. And now the American people are expected to foot the bill for Iran’s reconstruction after a war no one wanted.
That is the pattern.
They break things, bill the public, reward the powerful, and then tell working families there is nothing left.
Over 90 days in, there is still no clear strategy, end game, or completed objectives that justify the cost. The damage is economic, security-related, and human: at least 13 U.S. servicemembers dead and hundreds wounded.
Estimates show Trump’s illegal war has cost taxpayers $100 billion, nearly $750 per household.3 Instead of bombs, that money could have helped extend Affordable Care Act tax credits for more than three years and cut premiums in half for more than 20 million Americans.
That is the choice.
Bombs or health care.
War or housing.
Military contractors or working families.
A Project On Government Oversight report shows the true U.S. military budget is already at least $1.5 trillion to $1.8 trillion when hidden military spending across agencies is counted, around twice the size of all non-military discretionary spending combined.4
That is the part we cannot ignore.
When politicians claim there is no money to feed children, house families, protect seniors, fund schools, expand health care, repair infrastructure, or confront the climate crisis, they are making a choice.
They are choosing military contractors over working families.
They are choosing war budgets over community care.
They are draining the public good and calling it patriotism.
That is why People Power United joined dozens of organizations in urging Congress to reject Trump’s astronomical military spending requests.5
To be clear: America needs a military that is responsibly funded to help keep our people safe and our country secure. But safety is not the same as a blank check, and security is not served by waste, secrecy, endless war, or political recklessness without a plan. Congress must reject Trump’s National Defense Authorization Act, reject any Iran war supplemental funding bill, and block any scheme that funnels more public money into militarization while families are left behind. A safe and secure America requires accountability, oversight, and a budget that protects both our national security and the people who call this country home.
There is enough.
There has always been enough.
