Resist & Rising Together Weekly: Good News and Progress from the Resistance
Each week, Resist & Rising Together Weekly by People Power United shares stories of courage, creativity, and collective power from people pushing back against fascism and building a better future. While authoritarians try to divide and silence us, we riseācommunity by community, action by actionāto defend democracy, demand justice, and celebrate progress. From victories in the courts and wins for workers to breakthroughs in climate action and moments of solidarity, this movement reminds the world that power in America belongs to the people, not to kings, billionaires, or authoritarians.
Because resistance isnāt just about fighting backāitās about moving forward. Together, we are writing the story of progress, one act of people power at a time.
Today, we honor the strength, resilience, and courage of the American peopleāthose rising together to reject tyranny and defend our democracy.

āļø Net Zero Is Cheaper Than the Oil Shock ā And the Numbers Prove It
As the war in Iran drives global oil prices to their highest levels in years, the UKās independent Climate Change Committee released a landmark analysis finding that achieving net zero by 2050 will cost just Ā£4 billion per year ā equivalent to the energy-cost impact of Russiaās invasion of Ukraine, and far cheaper than continued fossil fuel dependence. Scientists and analysts say this moment is a powerful reminder: the volatility of oil markets is itself the argument for clean energy. Renewable investment is now the most affordable path forward ā and countries doubling down on it are proving it every week. Positive News

š° Washington State Passes Historic Millionaires Tax ā Free Meals for Every K-12 Student
Washington State made history this week by passing a 9.9% tax on income over $1 million ā the first income tax in the stateās nearly century-long history ā expected to raise more than $3.5 billion per year. The revenue will fund free breakfast and lunch for all 1.1 million K-12 students, expand the Working Families Tax Credit to 460,000 more households, and cut taxes for 65% of small businesses. Governor Bob Ferguson, who has pledged to sign the bill, called the vote historic. Less than half of one percent of Washingtonians will pay the tax, while millions will benefit. Politico

The Washington millionaires tax also delivers direct tax relief to working families: the Working Families Tax Credit expansion will send meaningful rebates to hundreds of thousands of households, the B&O surcharge will be eliminated for small businesses, and the state will remove sales tax on essential personal hygiene products. This is what taxing the wealthy to invest in everyone looks like in practice ā and Washington just showed itās possible even in a state with no history of income taxation.

How about FLASH MOBS? Show up at malls, airports, large public lobbies where a lot of people are passing through and SING PROTEST and also PATRIOTIC SONGS (so as to take them back from the phony patriots) while holding SIGNS that assert important values, etc. AND THEN LEAVE as quietly as having arrived (leaving an impression but doing so before backlash problems can grow). MAKE A POINT, then go and show up elsewhere and over and over. (I'd do so except I'm disabled and homebound).
