Pass the Equality Act and Guarantee Freedom for All

At People Power United, we believe America’s promise means nothing unless it reaches everyone. Equality cannot be reserved for the privileged, and equity cannot be treated as optional. Our freedoms must not depend on wealth, power, status, or whether those in office decide we are worth protecting. In a nation that claims liberty and justice for all, every person deserves the right to live with dignity, safety, honesty, and joy — fully and freely as themselves.
That promise includes our LGBTQIA+ siblings — our neighbors, friends, family members, coworkers, students, elders, and community members. It includes every child who deserves to grow up knowing they are loved, valued, and safe. It includes every adult who deserves to live free from hate, discrimination, and political cruelty. And it includes every person, across gender identity, sexual orientation, race, age, income, or zip code, who deserves the freedom to live with dignity, respect, and equality.
Pride Month is a time to honor love, authenticity, courage, and hard-won progress. But we must also tell the truth: this is a painful moment for many in the LGBTQIA+ community. Extremists are targeting transgender kids, banning books, censoring classrooms, and threatening families, health care, and the freedom to live openly and safely.
This moment is painful — but it is not hopeless.
Friendly reminder: the Equality Act passed the House in 2021 under Speaker Pelosi’s leadership, but it hit the wall of Senate Republicans, Sinema, and Manchin. If signed into law, the Equality Act would prohibit discrimination based on sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity — which is exactly why we must keep pushing.
Rights do not protect themselves. People protect rights.
This month, People Power United is asking our members to honor and stand with our LGBTQIA+ community by taking action:

Take action: Sign the Petition» Tell Colleges: Don’t Back Down on Pride Month
Take Action» Submit a public comment to protect Two-Spirit and trans people as well as Tribal sovereignty
Call your senators at (202) 224-3121 and urge them to pass the Equality Act.
Let us stand united. Let us stay informed. Let us stay awake to injustice. And let us keep building a future rooted in equality, equity, freedom, and power to the people.

Why the Grassroots Resistance Can’t Wait

I'm a 71yrs young gay black woman and have fought for many years to have the freedom to love whom I choose. My body,my life and rights. We the people of the United States of America we continue to fight the good fight. When do the government have a right to come into adult consenting bedroom and say who to sleep with? I will continue to March, Call my senators, Vote 🗳 and use my vote!!! We the people! Equality, and inclusion, diversity, dignity.
I am all for the Equality Act and I will call my Senators on Monday (my GOP representative is a lost cause).
But don’t feel the struggle is over when the Act passes — look at the continued struggles even with the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments more than 150 years ago.
Amendments help with the laws but not with hearts. That is something we have to continue working with people with — especially the children
