At People Power United, we believe America’s promise means nothing unless it reaches everyone. Artificial intelligence is not some faraway tech issue. It is about power, money, control, workers, families, communities, democracy, and the future we are leaving behind.
Right now, Big Tech billionaires are racing to build an AI economy on the backs of the people. They are using our labor, our data, our art, our writing, our research, our public infrastructure, our water, and our energy — then turning around and asking us to accept the risk while they pocket the rewards.
That is not innovation. That is extraction.
Communities are being asked to carry the burden of massive AI data centers that can strain water supplies, drive up energy demand, pollute neighborhoods, and pressure already fragile electric grids. Workers are being told to brace for job loss, surveillance, and wage pressure. Creators are watching their work get swallowed by corporate systems. Families already struggling with housing, healthcare, groceries, childcare, and utility bills are being told to subsidize the next billionaire gold rush.
We should be very clear: AI must not become another tool for corporate greed, worker exploitation, climate harm, surveillance, or authoritarian control.

This is a democracy issue. Who gets to shape the future — the people, or a handful of billionaires in boardrooms? Who benefits from this technology — every community, or the corporations already hoarding wealth and power? Who pays the price — Big Tech, or the rest of us?
That is why we need bold action now. Congress must give the public a 50% stake in AI through an American Sovereign Wealth Fund so the people share in the wealth created from our collective labor and knowledge. And Congress must ban new AI data centers by supporting Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s AI Data Center Moratorium Act until strong safeguards are in place.
At People Power United, we know the future is not something billionaires get to steal. The future belongs to the people.
