We must be LOUD and demand that our country be “the home of the free and the land of the brave”, that we lead the world in compassion and brains, and that our constitution is meaningful and the law.

I modfied as follows.

After This is a moment of truth.

You have the chance to show that a West Michigan member of Congress, representing an area VERY DENSE in Christian colleges, can take the moral high road instead of using a falsely labeled ideology of hatred, and do your duty to ensure that detainees are being treated the way you would wish your loved ones to be treated, were they to get caught up in the nightmare of ICE detention.

The link to comment on regulation went to the wrong place. Nothing about visiting ICE detention centers.

Hi Debbie! I just checked and both are working. It might be your cookie settings or you are trying to hop on from a foreign country (maybe your VPN?) which get blocked.

Ok, I mistakenly clicked on the other nearby link. Thank you.

Is America greater by allowing ICE to terrorize immigrant families? Separate children from their parents and imprison fathers and mother who are simply taking their children to school. Over 93% of those arrested have no serious criminal records. But guess what who does? The 34 time convicted, adjudicated rapist, associated with a notorious child sex trafficker, murderer (blowing up fishermen on boats) who is now the president of a once great country.

Hmmm. Seems like Socrates asked if people were made better by punishing them, and all his students concluded NO. Why are we still talking about this.

We created the conditions that destroyed the ability of the indigenous people to live from their land. See Father David's short post on this subject.

Agreed, cruel punishment never changes people, it only causes them to hate. But as an Indigenous woman, I would have to say that I’m glad for the technology, medical services and economy that we enjoy today. History tells us that Indigenous people didn’t have a great life, many starved during winter, many got sick or had accidents and died, many fought in tribal wars, women were kidnapped raped and enslaved by other tribes. Yes, colonialists abused Indigenous people and stole their land, but many others helped them too. The Hudson Bay company hired Indigenous guides and gave them rifles and gear to survive. Teachers, Priests and nuns fed orphan children and taught them to read. So not everything was so bad, people just tend to forget the good things and only remember the bad.

End Ice. They are haters hired with no skills or training. End ICE now. I have purchased whistles and will use them should I ever see ICE in my travels.

ICE detention centers are torture chambers with no oversight. END ICE.
