Everyone deserves dignity — with access to housing, healthcare, and education.
Everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive — regardless of age, race, sex, sexual orientation, pronouns, religion, or employment status.
Everyone deserves safety — clean air and water, and communities free from gun violence.
These are not radical demands. They are the foundation of a free and functioning democracy — the vision of a nation that values people over profit, compassion over cruelty, and progress over power-hoarding.
But today, that vision is under attack.
We Deserve a Functioning Government — Not the Economic Chaos Dictated by Trump and Complicit Republicans
America deserves a government that works for its people — not one held hostage by Trump and his Republican enablers.
Here’s a reality check: Trump and Republicans hold the White House, the Senate, and the House—yet instead of governing, they’ve chosen chaos. Under their watch, unemployment has climbed to its highest level in four years, energy costs have surged by more than 13%, food costs are out of control, and families are struggling just to get through the holidays. Rather than stepping up, Trump and Republicans are continue to weaponize government against our communities to advance an extremist agenda.
The consequences are real and painful. Millions of working families are being squeezed, with nearly 60% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck.1 Still, Trump and his allies refuse to work across the aisle to deliver real relief. As people face the threat of losing their health care and even their homes, House Speaker Mike Johnson shows no interest in extending Affordable Care Act protections—leaving families to pay the price for Republican dysfunction.
This isn’t leadership — it’s sabotage.
Meanwhile, the wealthiest 1% own more than the bottom 93% of Americans. 2 That’s not freedom — that’s feudalism. Trump’s policies reward billionaires, corporations, and cronies while ordinary Americans are left wondering how to pay rent, buy groceries, or keep the lights on.
We Deserve to Be Healthy — Not Left to Die in a Manufactured Health Crisis
A moral government invests in health, research, and care — not in cruelty. Yet Trump and Republicans have turned a broken system into a full-blown healthcare crisis.
The current Republican budgets slashes Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act, ripping healthcare away from 15 million low-income and working-class Americans. Experts estimate that 50,000 people will die unnecessarily every single year 3 because of these cuts.
Their plan would double premiums for 20 million Americans 4, forcing families to spend 40–50% of their limited incomes on healthcare, while insurance companies deny, deny, and deny necessary coverage to maximize profits.
A functioning democracy ensures that no one’s life depends on their bank account.
We Deserve to Be Housed — Not Homeless in the Wealthiest Nation on Earth
More than 771,480 Americans are homeless 5, and 85 million have houses that are uninsured or underinsured 6 — a moral failure in the wealthiest country in history.
Instead of fixing it, Trump’s shutdown has furloughed 84% of HUD staff, halting rental assistance and housing-subsidy programs that millions depend on.7
While ordinary Americans face eviction and uncertainty, Trump and his congressional allies hand out massive tax breaks to billionaires and real estate moguls. And let’s not even start on the demolition of the East Wing of the White House — a reckless vanity project wasting over $200 million to satisfy Trump’s ego with a new entertainment complex built for himself, not the people. 8 They’ve created a housing crisis while rewarding the very people profiting from our pain.
We Deserve Education — Not Indoctrination
A healthy government educates its citizens — it doesn’t silence or try to indoctrinate them.
Trump and Republicans have cut funding, fired career educators, closed essential departments, overturned student debt forgiveness, and tried to strong-arm colleges into pushing a MAGA-driven Christian nationalist ideology. 9
Trump and Republicans fear critical thinking because it exposes corruption, inequality, and lies. Education is the heartbeat of democracy — and they’re trying to stop it.
We Deserve Safety — Not a World in Chaos
Safety means more than protection from violence — it means stability, peace, and global respect.
Yet Trump’s reckless foreign policy has alienated allies, broken promises, and turned the world against us. His decisions have made Americans less safe abroad and at home.
Instead of addressing gun violence, climate change, or disaster preparedness, Trump’s administration and Republicans in Congress prioritize propaganda and political revenge. We are less safe because they value power over people. We are less safe as Trump wastes time on social media — obsessing over followers and attacking Americans — instead of doing his job to address income inequality and the mounting crises in housing, healthcare, education, and the environment.
The Choice Before Us
We deserve a government that listens — not one that silences.
We deserve justice — not cruelty.
We deserve democracy — not dictatorship.
Trump and his Republican cronies want to hoard more of what we deserve: our wealth, our rights, and our freedom.
But they underestimate us — because the people are rising.
At People Power United, we believe that real power belongs to the people — and together, we can reclaim it.
