Friends, I do not write these words lightly, and it pains me to say this, but we are now at war in the United States. Before you accuse me of hyperbole, please hear me out. The greatest evil is war. But war does not always come from foreign armies. Sometimes war rises from within when law and decency are betrayed and our own government’s power is used to terrorize and destabilize communities instead of protect them. Instead, the Trump administration is destabilizing America’s standing around the world and waging attacks on people who call America home, making these actions feel like war on our communities.
Since Donald Trump took office in his second term, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has been unleashed as a violent force with the encouragement, resources, and political cover of the Trump administration. At the same time, the nation’s economic foundation has been deliberately weakened while Trump and his family personally raking in 1.4 billion dollars this past year.1 Meanwhile, a political initiative inside the federal government known as the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) mishandled sensitive Social Security data and coordinated with political actors seeking to influence elections. And lets not forget Millions of Americans are also losing health care because of cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, and ACA subsidies.
Attacks Since Trump Took Office
DOGE Corruption and Data Abuse – DOGE employees mishandled Social Security records, stored data on unapproved cloud servers, and coordinated with a conservative political group. Additionally, hundreds of thousands of workers have been laid off, offices have closed, support services for Americans have been cut, and no waste or fraud has been found. 2
Fatal ICE Shooting of Renee Nicole Good – A Minneapolis woman was killed by an ICE agent during a federal immigration operation. “After the incident, several Trump administration officials described Ms. Good as a “domestic terrorist,” accusing her of trying to ram Mr. Ross with her vehicle. But a video analysis by The New York Times showed no indication that he had been run over.” 3
Another man shot and killed by Federal Agents in Minneapolis:
Aggressive Immigration Raids – Thousands of federal agents deployed across America, with reports of warrantless searches, pepper spray, false arrests, and intimidation. Several assaults (using choke holds, pepper spray, etc) have been committed on citizens and non-citizens.
Detention of Children Including a Five-Year-Old – Schoolchildren taken in immigration operations and transported far from home.4
ICE Shooting Incidents Nationwide – Federal immigration agents involved in multiple shootings during enforcement actions.5
Economic Harm While the Trump Family Profits – Reporting shows Trump and his family earned approximately $1.4 billion in a single year, even as hundreds of thousands of workers were laid off and inflation and unemployment rose.
Tariffs as Trump Taxes – Trump’s tariff wars raised prices on everyday goods, acting as a hidden tax on working families. 6
Cuts to Health Insurance, Medicaid, and Medicare – Trump-backed legislation enabled by Republicans in Congress cut over $1 trillion from Healthcare and related programs, putting millions of people at risk of having no healthcare and early death. 7 8
These acts are not isolated incidents. They are part of a broader strategy that prioritizes force over justice, profit over people, and power over democracy. An agency meant to enforce the law has become an occupying force. Economic policy has been weaponized to enrich the few. Health care has been stripped from millions.
Radical Republicans cheer military spending abroad while ignoring violence at home. Trillions are spent on defense while our children go hungry, seniors skip medication, and families lose everything. If our leaders will not uphold justice, we must.
We, the people, are not afraid. We will not be silent. We are the foot soldiers for justice. We must speak out, show up, and build collective power to replace corrupt leadership and defend our communities. Big shout out to People Power showing up yesterday in Minnesota, check it out:
We are the heroes we have been waiting for.
And together, we will win.

Yes, we must understand ourselves to be at war with the MAGA government.
I just read in The Guardian that funding has been slashed for programs combating child sex trafficking.
