I get most of my news on Threads. I am too exhausted to feel anger anymore. I am focusing on trying to be happy, laughter helps.

I am steeped in dread. Trump (and the men who tell him what to do) is clearly seeking to create an emergency that will enable him to claim emergency powers. He is provoking a terrorist attack while having cut counterterrorism staff and diverted the ones left to go after his political critics. The world knows that he has left us more vulnerable than usual while angering potential terrorists; it's a clear invitation. With emergency powers he can throw all legal restraints out the window and assert that all domestic opposition is treason --after all, we're at war! If Congress fails to assert its authority and seize control of whether we go to war, who will prevent this catastrophe?
Conflicting reports suggest that Israel may be playing both sides of this war, confusing nations in this region. We should not continue to support this war so long as Israel seeks to prolong and expand the missile strikes. Iran is a sovereign nation and they must be treated with respect and they must be allowed to choose whichever leader that they think will be best to lead their nation. The United States needs to let this happen. We should attempt to establish diplomatic relations with Iran. Our trust in the current leadership of Israel has been damaged. If indeed there have been false flag missile strikes within the neighboring nations of this region, and there is historical precedence of Israel framing nations for missile strikes and terrorist events which they themselves have conducted, then we must withdraw from this war. The nation that needs new leadership to protect its people is Israel, and Iran must make its own decisions.
There were Blackhawks flying over my home for 3 weeks in September and early October. The local Indivisible rally group kicked me out for having the nerve to mention that ICE was here in our community. They want to control the narrative, so they don't have to organize anything meaningful. I have no respect for Indivisible anymore. I now belong to 50501.

When I go to the store I try to talk to at least one person about what's going on in real life. It is so amazing that the people I have talked to are totally clueless about what's going on behind the scenes. They believe what they see on the news on TV. and it just makes me sick. But we all have to try in our own way to try and get through all of this, no matter what hat it takes.

Our area in northern VA has farm workers, housecleaners, lawn and outdoor jobs all filled with immigrants. Most, if not all, are hard workers, doing jobs for reasonable salary in positions that we could not fill. By that I mean, this type of menial labor does not have other than immigrants who will do this work. It is essential that we all work together to protect them. No matter how that looks or what it costs. They are priceless.

I'm 62 and I have nieces and nephews ranging in age from 2 to 42. They - and every other person - deserve a world with a future. It's up to us to fight for that. Equality and liberty for every single person and a healthy planet for all earthlings - flora and fauna both. We have to go under, over, around and through those currently in power to find each other and create what we need and want.
