Do you know what it’s called when someone takes your money and then refuses to give you what you paid for?
It’s called stealing.
And we cannot let corrupt Trump and his Republican supporters in Congress get away with dressing up theft as “budget cuts,” “reform,” or “fiscal responsibility.”
Social Security and Medicare are earned benefits. They are not handouts. Workers pay for them through every paycheck, year after year, with the promise that these benefits will be there when they retire, need medical care, become disabled, or lose a loved one. Medicaid is a lifesaving public commitment funded by our tax dollars so people can get health care when they need it most.
These programs exist because working people contribute, families sacrifice, and communities deserve care — not cruelty.
At People Power United, we believe America’s promise means nothing unless it reaches everyone. That means seniors should not have to choose between food and medicine. Disabled people should not be treated as disposable. Families should not be bankrupted for needing health care. And workers should not pay into a system their whole lives only to watch politicians try to hand the money and benefits to the rich and powerful.
Right now, wealthy people are getting a sweetheart deal. Working people pay into Social Security from every paycheck, but millionaires and billionaires stop contributing after hitting the wage cap.
That is not fairness. That is a rigged system.
Let’s say it plainly: when politicians take money from working people, protect the rich from paying their fair share, and then threaten the benefits people earned, that is political theft.
Congress must scrap the cap, protect Social Security, defend Medicare and Medicaid, and expand benefits. We need leaders who put people over greed, care over cruelty, and the public good over billionaire power.

On Friday, August 28, 2026 at 9 AM Eastern, people from across the country will gather at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., for the March on Washington: Defend the Vote. Hosted by Reverend Al Sharpton, the National Action Network, and the Drum Major Institute, the march will joined by Martin Luther King III and other civil rights leaders to commemorate the 63rd anniversary of the historic 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom and Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech. But this is more than a commemoration. It is a call to action.
