This is sadly very true. We are a racist nation - at least for many white people, and fail to remember that every one of us is the product of immigrants who came to escape oppression in other lands. We have become the very people our forefathers ran from. it has gotten worse, not better, because despite the efforts of many of us, we have a government of racists, torturers, and killers under the color of law.
Anybody who can find a better life elsewhere - especially professional people in medicine and science - should take the option to relocate. Until we un-elect the Trump criminal machine, and the Supreme Court, nobody is safe visiting the US (just say no to FIFA). I noticed that the immigration status for Canadian descendants changed and the Canadian immigrant lawyers are booked solid for the next two months.(because I looked) Fight or flight - choose your own course of action.

No political party, for sure, should be allowed to manipulate the vote in any way. Every state should have seperate, elected, non-partisan, state and local voting boards. These should be independent agencies (like the Federal Reserve) to assure and conduct fair and free elections. No board members should hold any other public office and should not be active in any political party. The boards should have the power to monitor and enforce voting rights. Those basic voting rights should be outlined in the U.S. Constitution since they are not enumerated in any consistent or comprehensive way in any of our State Constitutions.
